Hate seems to be tolerated in Canada

By Letter to the Editor on March 29, 2019.

Caylan Ford, the former UCP candidate in Calgary-Mountain View, should not have resigned her candidacy for her alleged controversial remarks on Facebook. Her comments are very much in sync with today’s Canada where hate is tolerated and even ignored.

Ralph Goodale, federal minister of public safety, has stated in the House that 60 ISIL fighters who fought our allies in the Middle East have returned to Canada. Now they hated. Yet the federal government has not enforced our Criminal Code by charging these people.

Why are these terrorists given preferential treatment? Why are all Canadians not treated equally? Caylan Ford is described as disgusting and hateful, but the federal government condones certain real extremism and their hate.

As well, it is also very disappointing that Jason Kenney lacks the courage to defend an unfairly maligned UCP candidate. He had courage in the shenanigans against Brian Jean, but that was easier.
