There’s help to address your food addiction

By Letter to the Editor on February 8, 2019.

It’s that time of year again. The gyms will be full, we will be weighing the pros and cons of the next diet we will try — low carb or low fat? Media will be rife with articles about ways to lose weight.

This is all well and good unless you are a food addict. If you have this disease, then these Band-Aid measures will not help at all. And, when you inevitably fail, they will just be one more brick in the wall of shame that is your effort to control the way you eat. Another reason to ask yourself “Why can’t I stop when I so desperately want to stop?”

There is a solution. It’s free. It’s simple. It saves lives and is the only answer for a true food addict. Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous meets every week to address the problem of food addiction in Medicine Hat — overeating or undereating. Find a meeting at foodaddicts.org.
