Embarrassing arrogance

In defense of Canada’s stand in its controversy with Saudi Arabia the foreign minister stated her opinion that Canadians expect their government’s foreign policy to be guided by their values.

By whose values? Those of the political elites or those of myriad Canadians? In many cases they’re not the same.

Canada’s governing Liberals have developed a tendency to pressure unwilling foreign governments to liberalize their values and laws to match those which many Canadians find abhorrent at home.

A major thrust in their imperialism is “women’s rights,” mainly abortion, which they generously promote worldwide, even in nations which value their citizens as our dictators do not. Their arrogance is embarrassing.
