If our society doesn’t fight ‘forces of progressive leftist evil’ then evil will win

By Letter to the Editor on January 5, 2018.

I buy The News primarily for the comments section and am regularly entertained and enlightened.

I’d like to write about two recent submissions — “Poisonous Partisanship,” a Dec. 2 guest column by Peter Mueller; and “Column personified intolerance” — a rebuttal letter Dec. 12 from Lynn Thacker.

I was moved by Mr. Mueller’s words to write a retort, but Lynn Thacker beat me to it. I was heartened by the letter writer’s words. I too favour rational dialogue. It is how civilized, educated, reasonable people discuss matters of importance. Unfortunately, this is impossible with two zealots. Please accept this letter as some pushback to Mr. Mueller and his supporters.

Not all of us have been “lulled” into this progressive trance of socialist correct speak, lies and fantasy. Why does Mr. Mueller believe what he believes? Perhaps he has drunk the Kool-Aid.

If you are going to do evil to anyone, you had better take them to a place best suited for your purpose. Mr. Mueller seems intent on dragging us all to that dark place, like it or not.

Please remember, no trick is too cheap, no lie is too big, no stunt is too low for it not to be considered by the progressive left in this country. Like it or not, we are in a culture war in Alberta and Canada over our society’s future. This war was started by people with power and wealth who think like Mr. Mueller.

This atmosphere of conflict is precisely why we have “poisonous partisanship.” Mr. Mueller’s comrades wish to change our country and province for their benefit, and theirs alone.

I want to fight against the forces of progressive leftist evil. I suppose we could do nothing but then evil wins. Or we could join Mr. Mueller’s world view and their evil wins and our souls belong to someone else.

The only choice is to fight back, speak up and lay bare the lies and garbage that is the progressive left’s commandments.

I, for one, will stop swinging and lay down in this fight, when I stop breathing or when freedom, truth and reality are victorious.
