Stampede Roundup: Come for the chucks, stay for the farm and ranch show

By Ryan McCracken on June 6, 2025.

The white-knuckle thrill of WPCA Chuckwagons is returning to the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grandstand next week, June 12-15, for another unforgettable four days of racing – but this year’s event offers even more.

Purchasing a ticket to take in one of our WPCA Chuckwagon racing events means you’ll get free admission to the Cypress Farm & Ranch Show next door at the Cypress Centre.

The CFRS will feature more than 130 agricultural exhibitors, free expert seminars, live entertainment, prizes and much more! Visit cypressfarmandranchshow.ca to learn more about the event.

The week of fun all gets started with the opening of the CFRS on Thursday and Friday at 10 a.m. The show runs until 6 p.m., while the wagons get rolling with a 7 p.m. start at the grandstand.

The CFRS runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, followed by chucks at 7 p.m., then Championship Sunday gets going at 2 p.m. the following day.

It’s shaping up to be four days of thrilling action, with Jason Glass holding a narrow lead in the world standings over Obrey Motowylo as the WPCA makes a stop in Bonnyville this weekend before heading south. Keep up on the WPCA standings and race results at wpca.com.

Grab your ticket to the races today at tickets.mhstampede.com, the Stampede Office or by calling 403-527-1234.

The fun never stops

That’s far from everything taking place on the Stampede Grounds in the coming days and weeks!

Pioneer Village has been bustling with students over the past month, and will be for another two weeks as part of our Big Marble Farms Community Classroom Learning initiative. This innovative curriculum-based program moves student learning beyond the classroom and into a community venue for a period of days, not hours. Community Classroom Learning allows for engaging, concept-based learning in a unique, historical community space, and it’s been an absolute hit so far!

This weekend will also feature the Cactus Country 4-H District Show & Sale on today and Saturday in the Cypress Centre Fieldhouse, while Crescent Heights will celebrate its grads on tonight in the Auditorium, then the Free Your Soul takes over the Cactus Room in Higdon Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
