Hold onto your hats, the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede ain’t done yet! After another successful Summer Exhibition, the Stampede is shifting sights to a pair of new events on our grounds this month – Cars & Guitars on Aug. 10 and Indian Relay Racing on Aug. 24-25. If you somehow didn’t get your fill of live music and horsepower at the Stampede last week, well, we’ve got you covered! Cars & Guitars opens at noon on Saturday, Aug. 10 with a free car show and swap meet, featuring a pin-up contest, beer gardens and more classic cars than you can count. To enter the pin-up contest, simply come to the event sporting your most eye-catching, pin-up inspired attire and register by the main stage between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Men, women and kids of all ages are invited to participate so don’t be shy now. The party picks back up at 7 p.m. when rising Canadian country music star Morgan Klaiber and CCR tribute band Canadian Coldwater Revival hit the grandstand stage, touching on some of the old classics and new hits to cap off a stellar Saturday evening. Tickets to the Cars & Guitars grandstand concert are on sale now for just $23 all in at tickets.mhstampede.com, the Stampede Office and 403-527-1234. Cars & Guitars weekend will also feature a Friday night cruise through Medicine Hat from 7-9 p.m. Check out our Facebook page for the full route so you don’t miss this caravan of classic cars! Later this month, the Stampede is thrilled to be hosting two days of Indian Relay Racing. Dubbed North America’s original extreme sport, Indian Relay Racing featuring teams of riders racing around our track and exchanging horses each lap. These races serve as the final leg of a newly-formed circuit with stops in Lloydminster and Grande Prairie, through which teams can qualify for an invitation to the 2025 Calgary Stampede. The weekend event aims to be a celebration of Canada’s Indigenous history and traditions, and the Stampede is working with local Indigenous partners to incorporate cultural displays, an Indigenous Artisan Market and more into what already promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride. This is truly an experience you’ll have to see to believe, so get your tickets now for $25 all in at tickets.mhstampede.com, the Stampede Office and 403-527-1234. Lastly, a massive thank-you goes out all to all the volunteers, shareholders, staff, performers, vendors and attendees who helped make this year’s Stampede another unforgettable success. We’re already looking forward to hosting you all again next July! Ryan McCracken is the sponsorship and marketing co-ordinator at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede 14
