Froese’s book called bold, brave

Award-winning Saskatchewan journalist Christalee Froese has written a book that readers are calling ‘brave and life-changing.’

In Journey to Joy, Froese vividly brings to life her recovery from depression, chronicling the two years she spent restoring the joy she’d lost. This bold, heart-wrenching memoir will make readers laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.

“I basically made up my own joy project, taking on a topic of happiness every month,” said Froese. “By month 24 — after immersion in subjects like creativity, food, fitness, photography, faith, love and gratitude for 21 straight days each month — a whole new me emerged, one who was finally joyful.”

Both heartbreaking and humorous, Journey to Joy offers insight into the stumbles and falls of recovery, and the persistence required to get back up time and again. Froese, from Montmartre, earned a Creative Saskatchewan grant which supports projects that have market potential outside of the province.

“The Creative Industries Production grant was a total surprise, and I’m humbled and grateful that Journey to Joy was chosen by Creative Saskatchewan as a book which they think could sell to readers Canada-wide,” said Froese.
