Medicine Hat News Play Guides is already back and in the swing of things for 2017. The Medicine Hat Early Childhood Coalition program is at the Family Leisure Centre Playground on Mondays from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Southview School Playground on Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. and at Central Park Playground on Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. The last sessions of the summer will be on Aug.24 and there are no Play Guide times on July 25 and Aug. 7. The sessions are intended for families with children aged 0-6 to get out and explore local parks and playgrounds, having fun and participating in free hands-on activities. The theme of play will change throughout the summer and will be announced on the group’s Facebook page. In an email to the News Jennifer Usher, coordinator at Medicine Hat & District Child Care Association, writes about the importance of spending time in nature. “Time in nature allows children to explore with all of their senses and provides a sense of freedom that is different from playing indoors. Outdoors children can be loud, run fast, climb high! They need to take risks in order to build their skills and confidence.” For more information visit the group’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/MedHatECC 8
