Medicine Hat News
Hatters could be without flight options to Calgary come the end of June.
On Monday, WestJet issued a notice it proposes to discontinue its year-round non-stop scheduled air service authorized between Calgary and Medicine Hat and between Calgary and Lethbridge.
The proposed final day of service would be June 24, 2026.
More to come on the developing story.
This is a loss for Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Southern Alberta commerce and tourism.

Medicine Hat News has the worst headline writers. WestJet isn’t “proposing” service cancellation — they are announcing it. Full Stop! Local staff have been notified they won’t be employed after June 24.
This isn’t a proposal — it’s a done deal. Get it right next time.

West jet intentionally self sabotaged their flight service to medicine hat by changing the flight times to the ridiculous schedule they have now where you can’t make connections in calgary and a schedule that doesn’t work for remote workers.
I knew they were self sabotaging their business the minute the changed the schedule.
As platinum westjet member who flies to/from work in Northern BC 36 flights per year….. the original schedule was perfect 7am out of med hat and 7:30pm return. I loved that schedule. They should never have changed the schedule. They needed to run that schedule longer so remote workers had time to adapt to the schedule and change their plans for work. If they kept that schedule eventually they would fill the plane with remote workers.
But no they self sabotaged the service by changing to ridiculous flight times that will never work for people who are flying for work.
