QMJHL Roundup: Sea Dogs edge Titan 2-1 to snap extended losing skid

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Drew Elliott scored and notched an assist Thursday, helping his Saint John Sea Dogs edge the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 2-1 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League play.

Neither side found the back of the net across the first two periods, but Pavel Simek broke the deadlock with a goal 16 seconds into the third.

Elliott added an empty-net strike for the Sea Dogs (18-37-8), who snapped an eight-game losing streak.

Matthew McRae put away the lone goal for the Titan (29-28-7) with 35 seconds left in the game.

HALIFAX – Brady Schultz buried the game-winning goal 7:05 into the third period as Halifax (41-16-8) doubled up Charlottetown (24-32-7). The Mooseheads went 2-for-4 on the power play.

PHOENIX 6 TIGRES 2

SHERBROOKE, QUE. – Two goals and an assist from Mavrick Lachance powered Sherbrooke (32-25-6) to a decisive win over Victoriaville (41-19-4). It was a busy night in net for Tigres goalie Gabriel D’Aigle, who stopped 33-of-38 shots.

SHAWINIGAN, QUE. – Andrei Loshko put away the game winner 15:14 in the third period as Rouyn-Noranda (43-15-6) edged Shawinigan (26-33-4). Huskies left-winger Jiri Klima contributed a goal and a helper.
