TORONTO – A lawyer for New Jersey Devils defenceman Cal Foote says the player has been charged with sexual assault in connection to allegations involving Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team.

The statement from Foote’s lawyer comes shortly after lawyers for three of Hart’s 2018 teammates, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod and Dillon Dubé, confirmed their clients have been charged in relation to the same case. A fifth player, Alex Formenton, surrendered to police in London, Ont. on Sunday.

All five players said through their lawyers that they intend to plead not guilty.

More coming.
