WHL roundup: Rylen Roersma scores twice as Wheat Kings defeat Pats 5-4 in OT

BRANDON, Man. – Rylen Roersma scored twice to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings over the Regina Pats 5-4 in overtime on Wednesday night in the Western Hockey League.

Jayden Wiens knocked in the overtime-winner at 1:51 of the extra frame. He also had an assist in regulation. Brett Hyland and Matteo Michels scored once for Brandon (17-12-4), which earned its seventh win in eight games.

Wheat Kings goaltender Carson Bjarnason stopped 34 shots and Nolan Flamand had two assists.

Sam Oremba had two goals while Tye Spencer and Braxton Whitehead also scored for Regina (13-16-5), which lost its third game in a row.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Dylan Sydor knocked in the game-winning goal at 6:16 of the second period as the Kamloops Blazers edged the Kelowna Rockets.

Andrew Thomson and Jordan Keller also scored for Kamloops (9-20-5). Blazers goaltender Dylan Ernst stopped 30 shots.

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Marcus Nguyen scored the game-winner at 1:22 of overtime as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Tri-City Americans.

Diego Buttazzoni scored twice, while Gabe Klassen, Tyson Jugnauth and Jack O’Brien also had goals for Portland (21-10-2). Goalie Justen Maric let in two goals on five shots while Nick Avakyan stopped 23 of 26.
