OHL roundup: Storm stung in overtime by Sting, trail series 2-0

SARNIA, Ont. – Nolan Burke’s goal at 10:30 of overtime gave the Sarnia Sting a 5-4 win over the visiting Guelph Storm in Ontario Hockey League playoff action on Sunday.

The victory gives the Sting a 2-0 lead in the first-round, best-of-seven playoff series. Sarnia won Game 1 on Friday 5-0.

Luca Del Bel Belluz scored twice for the Sting on Sunday, while Zach Filak and Marko Sikic added singles. Sikic’s goal at 18:02 of the third period tied the game 4-4 and forced the overtime. Sasha Pastujov chipped in with two assists.

Max Namestnikov, Ben McFarlane, Cooper Walker and Jake Karabela scored for the Storm.

Game 3 is Tuesday in Guelph, Ont.

LONDON, Ont. – George Diaco’s goal at 15:47 of overtime gave the London Knights an exciting 5-4 win over the visiting Owen Sound Attack.

Brody Crane, Ethan MacKinnon, Ryan Winterton and Easton Cowan also scored for the Knights, who outshot the Attack 53-28, but had a few problems getting the puck behind hot Attack netminder Corbin Votary.

Colby Barlow scored twice for the Attack, who lost Game 1 on Friday 7-0. Cedrick Guindon and Sam Sedley netted singles.

Game 3 in the series is Tuesday in Owen Sound, Ont.

Ottawa leads best-of-seven series 2-0

OTTAWA, Ont. – Logan Morrison’s second goal of the game, a power-play marker at 5:06 of the third period, proved to be the winner as the Ottawa 67’s edged the Oshawa Generals 3-2.

Will Gerrior also scored for the 67’s, who won Game 1 on Thursday 7-0.

Calum Ritchie and Beckett Sennecke scored for the Generals, who were outshot 33-31.

Game 3 is Tuesday in Oshawa, Ont.

NORTH BAY, Ont. – Charlie Callaghan’s power-play goal at 9:50 of the third period stood up as the winner as the visiting Mississauga Steelheads edged the North Bay Battalion 4-3.

James Hardie scored twice for the Steelheads, while Angus MacDonell and Charlie Callaghan netted singles to tie the best-of-seven playoff series 1-1. The Battalion won Game 1 on Friday 5-1.

Pasquale Zito, Kyle McDonald and Nikita Tarasevich scored for the Battalion, who were outshot 44-26.

Game 3 is Tuesday in Mississauga, Ont.

BULLDOGS 6 COLTS 3

Barrie leads best-of-seven series 2-1

HAMILTON, Ont. – Artem Grushnikov scored three goals as the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Barrie Colts 6-3 to get back in their first-round, best-of-seven series.

Lawson Sherk, Cole Brown and Adrian Rebelo also scored for the Bulldogs, who lost Game 1 on Thursday 10-2 and Game 2 on Saturday 6-3.

Callum Chisholm scored twice for the Colts, while Jacob Frasca scored once.

Game 4 is Tuesday in Hamilton, Ont.
