LAKE LOUISE, Alta. – Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt posted the fastest time in the final training run ahead of Friday’s season-opening World Cup downhill. Last season’s overall World Cup champion crossed the line in one minute 26.52 seconds. Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was second in 1:26.61 and Canada’s James Crawford third in 1:26.78. Toronto’s Crawford was fastest in Wednesday’s first training run, and Thursday’s was cancelled. The men started lower on the mountain Friday because of high winds. They’ll race super-G on both Saturday and Sunday. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 24, 2022. 8
