Valk finishes 5th at national golf championships

Medicine Hat College golfer Michael Valk finished his college golf season in the top five of the country.

Valk finished fifth at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association national finals, shooting a final round of 77. Luke Evans of Fanshawe College in London, Ont. won the tournament, shooting a fourth-round 70.

The national tournament teed off Tuesday with four days of action, finishing up Friday.

Rattler golfer Rylan Hodgson finished tied for 41st with a final round of 80. Keelan Burzminksi shot a 91 on Friday, finishing 49th. Rylan Montgomery finished 50th, shooting a final round 95. The last men’s golfer from MHC, Jace Shannon, shot a 101 on Friday to finish 51st.

The Rattlers men’s team finished 10th.

On the women’s side, Kiara Reesor finished 15th with a final round of 91. Taryn Sanderson shot 102 on Friday, finishing 17th. The ACAC women’s team No. 2 finished fifth.
