Drag Racing Association holds two-day of points races

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association had a pair of race days at the strip this weekend.

There were no Friday night races, with the rubber-burning action kicking off Saturday.

Griffin Arthur of Calgary won the first race of the weekend, taking the Jr. Thunder class. Aven Steinkey of Dunmore finished second.

Darian Dopp of Medicine Hat won the Jr. Lightning class, finishing ahead of second place Saxyn Schaufele of Desert Blume.

Paige Munsch of Cypress County won the Jr. Street class, beating Ryder Harrison of Raymond.

Randy Hastings of Medicine Hat was on the Sportsman class, with Sherri Larson of Brooks finishing in second.

The Pro class was won by Medicine Hat’s Doug Klassen, he finished ahead of Herb angel of Cypress County.

Larry Peters of Calgary won the Super Pro class, beating Bruce Valk of Medicine Hat.

The Pro Bike class was won by Medicine Hat’s Zach Toth, who beat fellow local racer Gavin Forbes.

Sunday’s races kicked off Griffin Arthur of Calgary winning the Jr. Thunder class. Lukas Keim of Claresholme finished second. Austin Markusson of Medicine Hat won the Jr. Lightning class, beating Dunmore’s Gray Schaan.

Paige Munsch of Cypress County won the Jr. Street class, beating Gray Schaan of Dunmore.

The Sportsman class was won by Sherri Larson from Brooks, finishing ahead of Dean Adie of Medicine Hat.

Doug Klassen of Medicine Hat won the Pro class, beating out Darcy Frey of Medicine Hat. Hatter Brooke Burden won the Super Pro class, finishing ahead of Conlie Wilk of Dunmore.

Quinn Olson of Sherwood Park won the Pro Fuel, finishing ahead of Doug Casson of Fort Saskatchewan. The Pro Extreme class was won by Will Ehle of Lloydminster, Gus Barrt of Whitecourt finished second.

Jeff Pitre of Yellowknife won the Super Gas class, with Jeremy Lott of Grande Cache finishing second. The Hot Twin class was won by Cody Minor of Medicine Hat, finishing ahead of Logan Boyes of Carnduff, Sask.

The CMDRA Street race was won by Adam Hettler of Redcliff, beating out Matt Dykstra of Medicine Hat. The CMDRA Grudge class was won by Tiffany Mayne of Edmonton, finishing ahead of Wetaskiwin’s Len Sterr.

Adam Hettler (Medicine Hat) also won the Super Bike class, beating out Phil Regalar of Calgary. The final race of the weekend, the Crazy 888 class, was won by Nikki Kidd of Edmonton. Clayton Potter of Calgary finished second.

Next up at the Drag Strip is the Streetcar Shootout on Sept. 20-21.
