Cubs hosting training camp starting tonight

The Medicine Hat Cubs are getting their season preparations underway tonight.

The Cubs are holding a three-day training camp at the Kinplex, with 13 ice times spread across the weekend. The first ice time starts tonight at 6:45 p.m., running until 9:15 p.m.

They’ll have ice time Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:45-6:30 p.m.

The afternoon ice times Saturday will feature scrimmages of four teams taking part in the camp, team King, Cairns, Aitken and Hazzard.

They wrap the weekend with practices Sunday from 9:30 a.m to 12:15 p.m. From 11 a.m to 12:15 p.m., the ice times will be more scrimmages, setting up the finals.

The final ice runs from 3:30-4:15 p.m. and 4:15-5 p.m. with ‘B’ and ‘A’ finals of the team scrimmages.

The Cubs open the preseason on Sept. 14 at Coaldale against the Copperheads. Medicine Hat hosts the Copperheads the next day, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Kinplex.
