The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club held the sixth annual Welltraxx Yardstick Tournament on Saturday.
In a yardstick tournament, all bowls from both teams that are within a yard of the jack, count in the score. Competitors in this tournament played with a different partner each game. To determine a winner, the scores that each person earned with their partner counted toward their rankings.
On the ladies side, Yvonne Sanregreat won with an eight-point lead over the second-place finisher, Barb Moll. Linda Bower rounded out the top three.
On the men’s side, Cave Starling was the high man for the second year in a row, defeating second-place finisher Mike Gilchrist by seven points. Curt Moll was nine points behind, finishing in third place.
Instead of medals, the top-three finishers in each category won a meter stick autographed by all the tournament participants.
