The Medicine Hat Tigers signed a fifth prospect from the 2024 WHL draft.

The Tigers announced the signing of defenceman Kayne Wright on Tuesday. The 15-year-old Edmonton product was selected 171st overall by Medicine Hat in the May draft.

Wright played the 2023-24 season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep program. In 26 games, he notched four goals and 19 points.

Tigers director of player personnel Bobby Fox spoke highly of the newly-signed defenceman in a team release.

“Kayne is a competitive, mobile defenceman that contributes on both sides of the puck,” Fox said

Wright was in attendance at the Tigers’ prospects camp May 31 to June 2. They signed four players during the final day of camp – forward Luke Ruptash, goaltender Cash Christie, defenceman Zack Nieckar and forward Noah Alexander.
