Med Hat Drag Strip hosts second race of season

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association hosted the Street Wheelers and adrift Night Street Legals this weekend.

The two days of racing featured nine heats of drag strip action.

Kicking things off Friday, Paul Jakober of Picture Butte won the Street Friday race. Mike Schaan of Dunkore came in second place.

The Friday Night Bike race was won by Medicine Hat’s Gavin Forbes. Gerald Beatch, also of Medicine Hat, finished second.

Saturday’s action got underway with the Junior Street race, won by Paige Munsch of Cypress County. Jackson Richter of Lethbridge finished second.

Colin Richter of Lethbridge won the Daily Driver race, finished ahead of second place May Sassa, also of Lethbridge.

Maple Creek’s Chris Hein won the Man Pedal race. Ron Nagy of Lethbridge finished in second place.

Matt Robert of Airdrie won the Street King race, finishing ahead of Weyburn’s James Frayn.

Chance Edelmann of Medicine Hat won the Quick Street race, finishing ahead of Dillon Merkel of Brooks.

David Burnett of Lethbridge won the Extreme Street race, with Bryan Schiftner of Calgary coming in second place.

The last race of the day, the P2P Street Bike, was won by Medicine Hat’s Matt Dykstra. Jay Dudley of Calgary finished second.

Next up at the Drag Strip is the Fathers Day races this weekend, which is also a points weekend on the strip.
