WHL announces dates for 2024-25 home openers

The Western Hockey League has announced home opening dates for all 22 clubs.

The Medicine Hat Tigers will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Co-op Place against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

It will be the first time the Tigers have faced Edmonton in an opener since the 2008-09 season.

The Oil Kings open their season the night before, at Lethbridge taking on the Hurricanes.

In the 15 seasons since they kicked off the season against the Oil Kings, the Tigers have faced the Hurricanes 12 times and each of the Red Deer Rebels, Swift Current Broncos and Calgary Hitmen once.

The 2024 WHL preseason schedule and complete 748-game WHL regular season schedule for 2024-25 will be announced the week of June 24.
