JV Colts drop final games before playoffs next week

The Monsignor McCoy JV Colts hit a speed bump heading into playoffs.

The JV Colts lost both of their games Tuesday night in a doubleheader at Vauxhall to the Vikings.

They lost the first game 12-5. James Cole, Ethan Grad, Reed Hall and Owen Fisher shared the mound work for the JV Colts in that contest. Nixon Kunkel led the offence with two hits and two RBIs and Liam Cunningham added a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Cole chipped in with a double and a run scored.

They lost their second game of the day, falling 10-4. Kunkel stood his ground on the mound as he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings and Jayden Mook struck out three more in his 1.2 innings of work. Ethan Grad had two hits and an RBI and both Cunningham and Kylan Mailhiot each had a hit for the McCoy JV squad.

The JV Colts have a record of 6-7 on the season as they look forward to the SAHSBL Tier 1 playoff tournament, which takes place at Jeffries Park and McCoy Field on May 24-25.
