Monarchs in tough throughout four weekend defeats

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs had four games on the road this weekend.

They opened the weekend with a 10-0 loss Thursday to the Jets. The Monarchs were held to one hit, with Pryce Velichko recording the lone knock.

Velichko started the contest on the mound, recording one strikeout in 2.1 innings pitched. Cole Carlson worked the remaining 2.1 innings of the game.

The Monarchs faced off against the Dawgs Academy Black on Friday, falling 7-1.

Aidan Eckersall scored the lone run, tallying two hits in the process.

Cade Harrison started the game for the Moose, picking up four punch-outs in four innings pitched. Carlson worked two innings with a strikeout, not allowing a hit. JJ Harnett pitched the final inning.

The Monarchs finished play Friday with a 7-2 loss to the Saskatoon Diamond Blacks.

Asha Frey had an RBI on two hits. Kobe Eskestrand started the game on the mound and worked 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Frey took over and recorded one out.

Jeff Bullock pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Harnett worked the final frame with a punch out.

The Monarchs wrapped up their weekend with a 7-6 loss Sunday to the Red Deer Braves.

Landon MacPherson had two hits, scored twice and drove in three RBIs in the loss. Trevin Ressler had two hits with an RBI.

Frey started the game with a strikeout in 3.1 innings pitched. Cade Moch took over and recorded two strikeouts. Ryler Straarup had three strikeouts in one inning pitched and Kayne Olinski had three punch-outs in two innings pitched.
