Colts, Hawks Sr. basketball teams kick off provincials bid today

Four senior high school basketball teams embark on provincials action today.

The Monsignor McCoy Colts and Medicine Hat High Hawks senior basketball teams are in provincials action today, with the Colts playing at the 3A tournament hosted in Strathmore and the Hawks competing at the 4A tournament held in Red Deer.

In Strathmore, the Colts Sr. boys enter as the ninth seed, facing the eighth seed St. Joseph in their first game.

The 10th seed McCoy’s Sr. girls face off against the seventh seed St. Albert Catholic.

At Lindsay Thurber school in Red Deer, the first seed Hawks Sr. boys team looks to capitalize on their special season starting with a matchup against the 16th ranked Grande Prairie Composite.

Hat High’s girls team enters provincials as the 13th seed and will face the fifth seed Magrath.
