Tigers fall 8-3 to Prince Albert Saturday

The Medicine Hat Tigers fell behind early and couldn’t come back Saturday night.

They allowed three goals in the first period to the Prince Albert Raiders, ultimately falling 8-3 on the road.

It’s the first time this season the Tigers have lost three straight games, coming off a 3-1 loss Friday night at Saskatoon to the Blades.

Sloan Stanick opened the scoring exactly eight minutes into the contest. The Raiders scored just three minutes later with Niall Crocker finding twine.

With 4:58 left in the first period, Ryder Ritchie scored on a power play to put the Raiders up 3-0 after 20.

They kept the momentum flowing, with Brayden Dube scoring 1:47 into the second period.

Medicine Hat got on the board less than three minutes later with Reid Andresen’s eighth of the season. Andrew Basha had the lone assist.

The Raiders scored again in the frame, with Justice Christensen finding the back of the net at 9:17.

Medicine Hat answered back 4:22 later with a power play goal from Hunter St. Martin. Oasiz Wiesblatt and Josh Van Mulligen had the assists on his 23rd, making it 5-2 after 40 minutes.

The Raiders scored early in the third to maintain pace. Aiden Oiring scored 39 seconds into the period to make it 6-2.

Medicine Hat scored at the 10:39 mark with Tyler MacKenzie potting his 16th. Basha and Tomas Mrsic had the assists.

Prince Albert rattled off two unanswered in the last 10 minutes for the 8-3 final. Ritchie and Dube both found the back of the net, giving each of them two goals on the night.

Max Hildebrand made 32 saves in the Raider net, across from him, Zach Zahara stopped 23 shots. The Tigers were 1-for-2 on the power play, Prince Albert 1-for-4.

The Tigers (35-22-5-2) are off until Friday when they head to Swift Current for the first game of a home-and-home series with the Broncos. Medicine Hat leads the Central division by one point with the Broncos holding two games in hand.
