The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s hockey team ended their first season as a program on a high note.

The Rattlers collected their first win as a full-time program in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, beating the SAIT Trojans 4-3 on Sunday.

Keirson Kobi and Kennedy King scored twice in the Rattlers’ win Saturday and Kinlee Fahselt made 23 saves.

On May 31, 2023, MHC was given the approval from the ACAC to offer a women’s hockey program, the first of its kind for the college and the first time a hockey team of any kind has competed in the city at the collegiate level since the 1986-87 season.

Before their historic win Sunday, they lost 5-2 on the road Friday to the Trojans. Mya Girard tallied a goal and an assist and Kobi scored in that contest as well. Jessika Charron made 26 saves in the loss.

The Rattlers finish their inaugural season with a 1-24 record, finishing outside the ACAC playoff bubble.
