SALTA Gymnastics vies in Lethbridge

The SALTA Gymnastics Club participated in its second competition of the season.

The local gymnastics club sent 28 athletes to the Battle at the Bridge in Lethbridge on the weekend of Jan. 19-20.

The competition was comprised of four exercises – vault, balance beam, uneven bars and floor. SALTA athletes returned with four gold medals, four silver medals and eight bronze medals.

Chelsia Cooper placed first on the uneven bars, first in the floor routine, second on the vault and second on the balance beam. She was also awarded the first place all-around champion for the CCP Level 7 category.

Alivia Theofan earned her spot on the podium by finishing third in each of the floor, vault and balance beam exercises. She was awarded fourth place all-around champion for the CCP Level 7 category.

Brynnley Gertner was a regular on the podium as well, placing first in the floor routine and third in the vault, uneven bars and balance beam exercises. Gertner secured the third place all-around champion for the CCP Level 6 category.

Leah Christensen placed second on the vault, third on the uneven bars and received the seventh place all-around champion award for the Xcel Silver category.

Sienna Watson placed second on the floor exercise and received the eighth place all around champion award for the Xcel Silver category.

Other notable mentions include:

CCP Level 6: Camryn Kingsley finished fourth in floor and all around.

Adriana Mealey finished fourth in vault and fifth all around. Skylar Berner finished forth in balance beam and sixth all around. Kenzie Christensen finished fifth in vault and seventh all around. Kapri Wirth finished sixth on the floor and eight all around.

Alexis Hayward finished fourth in balance beam and ninth in all around.

CCP Level 3: Rocio Figueroa finished sixth in floor and ninth all around. Willow Chant finished sixth in vault and 10th all around.

CCP Level 2: Annelise Marku finished fourth in vault and sixth all around.

Xcel Gold:

Kyra Erker finished 10th all around.

Xcel Silver: Isla Studer finished fourth all around. Harper Lang finished fourth all around. Aliyah Mitchell finished 10th all around. Peyton Nikiel finished 11th all around. Deklyn Cook finished 12th all around. Ashlyn Adams finished 13th all around. Kylie Otterson finished 13th all around.

Xcel Bronze:

Macie Britton finished sixth all around. Emery Hirsch finished seventh all around.

Brienna Petzoldt finished ninth all around. Hazel Allen finished 10th all around.

Symphony Silver finished 11th all around. Vanessa Lonson finished 12th all around.
