Rattlers Roundup: Rattler men’s futsal wins lone weekend game

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s futsal team took care of business over the weekend.

They beat the Lethbridge Kodiaks 4-3 on the road Saturday, their lone game of the weekend.

The Rattlers’ women’s team was also in action, falling 7-3 to the Kodiaks.

No goal scorers were reported from either game. The women (2-2-1)and men (3-0-2) are on the road this weekend at Prairie College for a four-game set.

They’ll face the Ambrose University Lions and Prairie College Pilots on Friday and the Olds College Broncos and SAIT Trojans on Saturday.

Basketball

MHC’s basketball teams had only one game over the weekend, on the road against the Ambrose Lions.

The Rattlers men lost 94-90 and the women fell 72-54.

It took overtime in the men’s game, with Ethan Robinson leading the Rattlers’ scoring with 17 points. Both Jordan Biggar and Cooper Ward recorded double-doubles, with Biggar putting up 13 points and 10 rebounds and Ward tallying 14 points with 13 rebounds.

The women’s team had three double-digit scorers, with Jordyn Knight tallying 14 points and both Breanna O’Connor and Brynn Bremner notching 11 points.

The men (3-14) and women (2-15) are on the road this weekend, facing Concordia University on Friday and King’s University on Saturday.

Volleyball

MHC’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams had a home-and-home with Ambrose University on the weekend.

The Rattlers men dropped both matches, falling in four sets at MHC on Friday (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24) and in three sets Saturday (25-23, 25-22, 30-28).

Both Jordan McKee and Landon Reiniger had 10 kills in Friday’s loss, and Nathan Chernik led Saturday with nine kills.

MHC’s women also dropped both games, falling in three sets Friday (25-22, 25-11, 25-14) and three sets Saturday (25-9, 25-20, 25-20).

Kadence Wiggins and Anca Haberstock each had five kills in Friday’s loss, and Elise Wagner tallied seven on Saturday.

The men (3-12) and women (0-15) host Concordia University on Friday and King’s University on Saturday.

Hockey

The Rattlers women’s hockey team hosted the Olds College Broncos over the weekend, dropping both games.

They were shut out 4-0 Saturday, with Jessika Charron making 27 saves for the yellow and black.The team also lost Sunday by score of 4-0, with Kinlee Fahselt making 38 saves.

The Rattlers (0-20) host the Lakeland College Rustlers this weekend for a three-game set on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
