Hatters come out on top at South Alberta 5 Pin Bowling Open Championships

Medicine Hat was well represented at Southern Alberta’s 5 Pin Bowling Open Championship.

The championship, hosted in Lethbridge over the weekend, serves as the qualifier for the Alberta championship over Easter in Grande Prairie where southern athletes will face teams from Calgary, Edmonton, Central and Northern zones.

There were 12 Medicine Hat bowlers who qualified for provincials over the weekend, led by David Sisko who won his second consecutive Southern Alberta Zone 5 Pin Open Championship. He averaged a score of 274 for 20 games.

Also qualifying from Medicine Hat was Taylor Hanley, Connor Leavitt, Kurtis Deering, Rob Price, Tyler Sisko, Larissa Long, Bobbi Verpy, Torrie Hinzman, Kara Deering, Tara Seitz and Susan Gartry. Long was second by only 10 pins to Lethbridge’s Dianne Violini.

Winners from provincials go to the Canadian Open National Championship from May 28 to June 1 in Ottawa.
