Ruck twins named to Canada’s Youth Olympics roster

Liam and Markus Ruck will be representing Canada Hockey internationally in the new year.

The two Medicine Hat Tigers prospects have been named to Team Canada’s men’s hockey team for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games held in Gangwon, South Korea.

Men’s hockey will take place at the Games from Jan. 27-31 at the Gangneung Hockey Centre.

Liam and Markus have had strong starts to their age-15 seasons with the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U18 team. Liam has 18 goals and 36 points in 15 games at the CSSHL level and has put up a goal and an assist in his first game with the Tigers.

Markus has outscored his younger twin brother at the U18 level, putting up 10 goals and 37 points in 15 games. He has also made his WHL debut for the Tigers, still looking for his first point.

Team Canada opens the Youth Olympic tournament against host South Korea on Jan. 27 at 4 a.m. MST and will play Finland on Jan. 29 at 4 a.m.

Semifinals will be played on Jan. 30, with the medal games set for Jan. 31.
