Ringette roundup: U19 Live Wire sweep weekend of ringette action before holidays

The Medicine Hat U19 Live Wire took care of business in their weekend ringette slate.

The Live Wire won both of their last games before the holidays, beating South Calgary 12-3 on Saturday and also topping them 13-3 on Sunday.

Live Wire scoring in Saturday’s win was led by Kayla Robinson and Hannah Thompson who each had three goals, while Sophie Kerr and Mackenzie Tindall each added two. Avery Weisgerber and Kamryn Reid added singles as well.

The Live Wire’s win Sunday had three hat tricks from Kerr, Thompson and Reid. Tindall had two goals and both Robinson and Brooklyn Schlenker had a goal each.

Kyree Stern-Rebmann stood tall in net for both games.

The Live Wire’s next action is Jan. 5 at the Jim Benning tournament in Regina.

U16

The Mercury travelled to Calgary for a double header Saturday against Bow View.

In their first game, Mercury lost 7-5. Margot Kerr had three goals and Leighton Wright had the Mercury’s other two markers. Jayna Allchurch was in net.

In their second game, the Mercury found themselves down 4-1 after the first period before ultimately falling 6-5. Kerr scored twice and all three of Ryleigh Jackiw, Allchurch and Wright scored a goal.

The Mercury are off until the new year when they travel to Airdrie for another double header on Jan. 7.

U12

The U12B Fury were in action Saturday with a double header against the Lethbridge Rattlers.

Their first game was an 11-9 loss. Danna Sawchuk was in net and their goals were scored by Evangeline Robins with four, Kassidy Etienne with four and both Ally Martin and Annabelle O’Reilly each scoring a solo marker.

The Fury won their second game 8-7 with E. Robins in net. Etienne scored four goals, Ally Martin had three goals and Olivia Ulbricht had a solo marker.

The U12C Royals were in Calgary on Saturday against the Calgary NW Killer Whales.

The Royals lost their first game, falling 13-6. Rielle Forsyth had four goals, Aphten Myram and Arika McDowall each had a goal as well, Aleah Barretto was in net.

In their second game, the Royals lost 13-7. Barretto was in net and Jorja Sadler had four goals. Zayda Daswon, Sadie Sackman and Myram each had a goal as well.

Kimber Moch, Charlee Lowe, Dawson and Myram served as APs for the Royals.

U10

The U10 Step 3 Gators team had some exciting home games this weekend with the Indus Lightning visiting.

Indus came out strong in their first game, leading 6-1 at the half before falling 8-6. Gators goal scorers for the game were Isabelle Perrault, Charlie Lowe, Aphten Myram, Zayda Dawson, Sloan Loehndorf and Dylin Kerluke.

The Gators persevered in their second game, initially behind by two, coming back strong with seven goals for a 7-7 tie. Loehndorf and Perrault each scored twice, with Lowe, Dawson and Zoe Aarden each putting one in net. Eris Davies was strong in the Gators net.

The Gators are off until the new year.
