Minor Hockey Roundup: U15AA SEAC Tigers split weekend

The Medicine Hat U15AA SEAC Tigers split their weekend slate.

The South East Athletic Club Tigers opened the weekend with a 7-2 loss against the Wheatland Warriors on Friday before bouncing back with a 4-2 win Saturday over the Golden Suns.

Dane Friedt and Brogan Verishine each scored in Friday’s loss and Jake Druar and Conner Aldag combined to make 33 saves.

In Saturday’s win, both Chase Murphy and Verishine had a goal and an assist. Cooper Craven and Jaxon Martin each had a goal and Aldag made 32 saves in the victory.

The U15AA Tigers (8-6-1) are off until Dec. 8.

U13

The U13AA Medicine Hat Hounds opened the weekend with a 5-3 win Saturday over the West Central Tigers. Macen Ibach scored a goal and an assist and both Carter Jarvis and Lincoln Steinkey potted a goal. Brea Guest had two assists and Hunter Munro made eight saves in the win.

The U13 Hounds also faced the Olds Grizzlys on Sunday, but those results were not posted.

The Hounds (10-4-1) have two road games this weekend.

U16

The U16AA Hounds lost their first game of the weekend, falling 3-1 to the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday. Colton Pluta had Medicine Hat’s lone goal and Kayden Van Ham made 40 saves in the loss.

The Hounds had a rematch with Okotoks on Sunday, but those results were not posted by press time.

The U16AA Hounds (2-8-1) have two home games this weekend, hosting the Wheatland Raiders and NWCAA Brooks on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers split their weekend slate, ending it on a high note.

The Tigers lost 4-1 Saturday on the road against the Red Deer North Star Chiefs and bounced back with a 3-1 win Sunday at home over the Calgary Bulls.

Mason Seibel scored the Tigers lone goal Saturday and Kayne Wright made 36 saves in the loss.

On Sunday, in the Tigers’ cancer awareness game, Colby Gulliver led the way with a goal and an assist. Tate Bowal and Ryker Watson each found the back of the net and Kolter Gans made 30 saves.

The U17AAA Tigers (7-6) have one road game this weekend.

U18

The U18AA Hounds opened their weekend with a draw, a 3-3 final against the Foothills Bisons on Saturday.

Nolan Sutherland had two goals and Treyson Girletz had a goal and an assist in the tie. Adam Ranger made 20 saves.

The Hounds also faced the Bisons in a rematch on Sunday, but those results were not yet posted.

The U18AA Hounds (3-6-3) are off until Dec. 2.
