Rattler Roundup: Rattlers sports coming off rough weekend

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers athletics had a difficult weekend of action.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams lost their respective games Friday and Saturday.

The basketball teams were on the road at Keyano College on Friday and then to Lakeland College on Saturday.

The men’s team lost 92-82 on Friday against the Huskies and fell 95-93 on Saturday against the Rustlers.

Rattler Kieran Isnor led MHC in Friday’s loss with 18 points and two steals. Ethan Robinson was the college’s top scorer on Saturday with 33 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

The women’s basketball team lost 75-39 on Friday at Keyano College and 88-45 at Lakeland College on Saturday.

Jordyn Knight had 15 points and five rebounds in Friday’s loss and Brynn Bremner led the offence Saturday with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rattlers men (1-6) and women (0-7) host the University of Alberta-Augustana at the MHC Snake Pit on Nov. 18.

Volleyball

The Rattlers men’s and women’s volleyball teams hosted Keyano College and Lakeland College on Friday and Saturday respectively.

The men’s team lost in four sets on Friday (23-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-22) and three sets Saturday (25-13, 25-19, 25-22).

Nathan Chernik led the Rattlers with 13 kills against Keyano College with Jordan McKee recording 10 kills on Saturday against Lakeland College.

MHC’s women’s team lost a close, five-set battle Friday against the Huskies (25-17, 17-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-12) and in three sets against Lakeland College (25-15, 25-14, 25-15).

Anica Haberstock had 13 kills for the Rattlers in Friday’s loss with Campbell Bosch and Brooklyn Tkachuk adding 12 each in the close battle. Bosch led the Rattlers on Saturday with eight kills.

The Rattlers men’s (0-4) and women’s (0-4) volleyball teams have a home-and-home series with the Lethbridge College Kodiaks this weekend. They host the Kodiaks on Friday before hitting the road for Lethbridge on Saturday.
