Medicine Hat Tigers fans are used to seeing Gavin McKenna win games for them in the WHL. He introduced that ability to Canada fans Tuesday night.

The 15-year-old scored the game winner for Canada Red over Team U.S.A. at the U17 Hockey Challenge , securing a 4-3 overtime victory.

McKenna’s Team Red finishes the preliminaries at the tournament held in P.E.I. with three wins (two in OT) and two losses, putting them in third place.

That record sets them up for a quarter-final matchup against Team Canada White on Thursday.

Through five games, McKenna has five goals and seven points.

Despite Tuesday’s loss, Team U.S.A. finishes the preliminary round in first place with three wins and two OT loss. They, alongside Team Sweden, receive a bye into the semifinals.
