Medicine Hat Tigers’ prospects Liam and Markus Ruck put on a show at the annual WHL Cup last week.

The twin prospects suited up for Team B.C., who finished fourth, and both led the five-game tournament in scoring.

Liam, who was selected ninth overall by the Tigers in May’s WHL prospects draft, had seven goals and 11 points in five games, scoring a goal in every game.

Markus, who was selected 21st overall in the same draft, had two goals and 10 points in five games played.

Liam’s seven goals and Markus’ eight helpers led the tournament in each statistical category. Both were named WHL Cup all-stars.

Tigers’ prospect defencemen Riley Steen and Koray Bozkaya also suited up for Team B.C.

B.C. lost 6-2 Sunday against Saskatchewan in the third-place game. Team Manitoba won its first WHL cup with a 6-5 shootout win over Team Alberta later in the day. The victory marked the first time the cup has been awarded on a shootout.

Brayden Boehm listed as week to week

The Western Hockey League’s weekly report lists Tigers’ forward Brayden Boehm as week to week with a lower body injury.

The 19-year-old Nanaimo product was on a hot streak during the Tigers’ B.C. road trip, recording points in all five games.

Through 12 games this season, Boehm has five goals and 10 points. He reached the 150-game mark in Medicine Hat’s 7-5 loss Sunday at Prince George against the Cougars.

The weekly report also listed import forward Vasyl Spilka as a return from injury.

The 17-year-old Czechia product is coming off a shoulder injury sustained in the offseason. Spilka was expected to make his WHL debut during the Tigers B.C. road trip but did not make his way into a game.

The Tigers’ next action is Friday when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings at Co-op Place.
