The Medicine Hat Drag Strip handed out some season points over the weekend.
The strip held three days of races down the track, with a total of 18 spread across the entire event.
The action got underway Friday with the Street Friday race, won by Ted Buzunis of Fort Macleod who finished ahead of Medicine Hat’s Kelsie Epp.
Gavin Forbes of Medicine Hat won the Friday night bike, finishing ahead of Redcliff’s Adam Hettler.
Medicine Hat racer Danica Jennings opened Saturday’s action with a win in the Jr Thunder race. Brandon Peck of Carseland came in second place.
The Jr Lightning race was won but Cole Caron of High River, who finished ahead of second place Miandra Gaetz of Medicine Hat. Saturday’s third Jr race, the junior street race, was won by Dunmore’s Gray Schaan. Ady Markusson of Medicine Hat took second place.
Fred Tolsdorf of Coaldale took first place in the Heads Up competition, with Merl Mayer of Medicine Hat coming in second place.
Medicine Hat’s Dean Adie won the Sportsman race, finishing ahead of Robert Lanz of Calgary. Steve Campbell of Airdrie took first place in the King of Track race, with Adie finishing in second.
Campbell also won the Pro race, with Allan Kestner of Calgary coming in second place.
Saturday’s Super Pro first place winner was Emily Girard of Chilliwack, B.C., who finished ahead Darrel Smith of Foothills.
Cambell wrapped up Saturday’s action by taking first place in the Pro Bike Race, with Kristen Ashby of Medicine Hat coming in second place.
Ella Jennings of Medicine Hat opened Sunday’s races with a win in the Jr Thunder race, finished ahead of Danica Jennings in second.
Caron repeated as the first place finisher of the Jr Lightning race, winning both Saturday’s and Sunday’s races. Darian Dopp of Medicine Hat finished second.
Luke Munsch of Cypress County finished first in the Jr Street race, finishing ahead of Markusson.
Teagan Thorpe of Medicine Hat won the Sportsman race on Sunday, with Ryan Valk coming in second place. The Pro race was won by Bill Shade of Black Diamond, who finished ahead of second place Chance Edelmann.
The Super Pro race was won by Danny Holmedal of Maple Creek who finished ahead of Caron. The final race of the weekend, Sunday’s Pro Bike race, was won by Mike Brown of Strathmore who finished ahead of Dave Toth of Medicine Hat.
Next up for the Drag Strip is the 14th annual Mud Bog race, which gets underway Saturday.
