Local swim clubs compete at Edmonton swim meet over weekend

Two Medicine Hat swim clubs showcased their skills in Edmonton over the weekend.

The Medicine Hat Waves Swim Club and the Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club competed at the 46th Annual Edmonton Keyano International.

Waves

Six Waves swimmers competed in Edmonton, led by Matthew Daley who achieved his first Provincial Trials Standard in his 50m Breastroke. Rowynn Biffart topped off her weekend with the addition of a third Olympic Trial Qualifying time from her swim in the 200M IM.

Girls 11 and 12

Sophie Baht (11) Finished 10th in 200m Breast, 11th in 100m Breast, 15th in 50m Breast, 16th in 200m IM and 24th in 50m Free.

Girls 13 and 14

Rowynn Biffart (14) Finished first in 50m Free, 200m Breast and 200M IM, second in 50m Fly and 100m Breast, third in 100m free, fourth in 100m back and fifth in 50m Breast and 50m Back.

Boys 14 and 15

Matthew Daley (15) Finished 12th in 100m Breast, 13th in 50m Breast, 22nd in 50m Fly, 27th in 50m Free and 28th in 100m Free.

Kaden Goffinet (14) Finished Seventh in 200m Breast, eighth in 200m Free, 10th in 50m Breast, 15th in 800m Free and 200m Free, 22nd in 100m Free and 35th in 400m Free.

William Miller (15) Finished eighth in 50m Back and 200m back, 11th in 800m Free, 13th in 100m Back, 18th in 200M IM, 25th in 100m Free and 28th in 400m Free.

Kage Senft (14) Finished sixth in 50m Free, seventh in 200M IM, eighth in 100m Back, 10th in 100m Fly, 12th in 100m Free and 16th in 400m Free.

Next up for the Waves Swim Club is the Alberta Summer Games, provincial championships and Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships.

AMAC

AMAC had 11 swimmers compete at the Edmonton Keyano International.

Gage Anderson (11) achieved two new best times, finishing 11th in 200m Back, 11th in Mixed 13 and under 200m Free Relay, 13th in 50m Back, 18th in 50m Fly, 19th in 100m Back, 22nd in 50m Free and 27th in 100m Free.

Jaivyn Barabe (17) achieved one new best time, placing fourth in 50m Breast, ninth in 50m Fly, 15th in 100m Breast and 45th in 100m Free.

Nayla Berg (11) achieved five new best times and a new 12 and under provincial time in 100m Breast placing sixth. She also placed fifth in 12 and under 200m Free Relay, sixth in 50m Breast, seventh in 200m IM Prelims, 14th in 50m Free, 16th in 100m Free and 17th in 50m Fly.

Lauren Gainsborough (12) achieved four new best times, placing fifth in 12 and under 200m Free Relay, 13th in 50m Back, 14th in 50m Breast, 15th in 100m Fly, 20th in 50m Fly and 29th in 100m Free.

Estelle Grisak (12) achieved two new best times and a new 12 and under provincial time in 400m free placing 20th. She also placed fifth in 12 and under 200m Free Relay, 10th in 200m Back, 14th in 50m Back, 16th in 200m Free, 22nd in 50m Free, 24th in 100m Back and 26th in 100m Free.

Morgan Hobson (14) achieved three new best times and a new 15 and over provincial time in 200m IM placing 14th. She also placed eighth in 200m and 50m Breast, ninth in 100m Breast, 19th in 50m Fly and 23rd in 50m Free.

Kristin Hollingworth (17) Achieved three new best times and a new provincial champ time in 100m Fly placing 17th. She also placed 18th in 50m Fly, 23rd in 100m Free and 26th in 100m Breast.

Caen McWilliams (13) achieved seven new best times, earning a new 14-15 provincial time in 100m Free placing seventh and a 16 and over provincial time in 200m Back placing second. He also placed second in 50m Back, fourth in 100m Back, fifth in 800m Free, ninth in 400m and 50m Free and 11th in Mixed 13 and under 200m Free Relay.

Lily McWilliams (12) achieved four new best times and two new 12 and under provincial times in 200m free and 400m free. She placed fifth in 12 and under 200m Free Relay, eighth in 50m Free, 10th in 50m Back, 11th in Mixed 13 and under 200m Free Relay, 12th in 200m and 100m Free, 13th in 200m IM, 14th in 400m Free, 20th in 50m Breast and 22nd in 100m Back.

Aliya Seeley (13) placed 26th in 200m Free, 33rd in 100m Back, 38th in 100m Free and 50m Free and 45th in 400m Free.

Ava Wentzel (13) Achieved four new best times, placing 11th in Mixed 13 and under 200m Free Relay, 16th in 100m Breast, 17th in 50m Breast, 27th in 200m Free, 32nd in 100m Free and 36th in 50m Free.

Next up for AMAC is the Alberta Summer Games.
