American Legion wrap up: U15 Majestic’s knock off winning weekend

The Medicine Hat U15 Majestic’s are coming off a two-win weekend of baseball action.

The Majestic’s (21-3) opened the weekend with two straight wins, beating the YQL Sluggers Bantam U15 team 6-5 before beating the Black Gold 47’s 19-9. They ended the weekend with a 9-6 loss against the Stettler Storm AA.

Saturday’s 6-5 win over YQL was led by Ryan Ziebart who had one hit with an RBI and three runs scored. Ayden Andersen started the game for the Majestics, pitching four innings with five strikeouts before handing the ball off to Asha Frey who picked up the win while striking out seven in his three innings of work.

The Majestics’ 19-9 win Sunday morning against the Black Gold was led by a balanced offence that put up 19 hits to go with 19 runs. Mason Heintz led the way with four hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Both Dyson deBussac and Ethan Chenard had three hits and three runs scored in the blowout victory. Ziebart started the game, pitching three innings with a strikeout, with Liam Cunningham taking over and striking out three in his two innings of work for the win. deBussac pitched the last two innings, registering one strikeout.

Their final game of the weekend, a 9-6 loss against Stettler, saw Frey, Riley Tweten and Bennett Anderson each picking up a hit, RBI and run scored. Tweten started the contest and pitched 4.1 innings with eight strikeouts. Josh Rolheiser pitched two innings after Tweten, striking out one, before Heintz registered two final outs with a punch-out.

Monarchs

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs ended their weekend on a high note, bouncing back from two straight losses with a win.

After falling 3-2 and 12-5 on Saturday, both against the Kalispell Lakers, the Monarchs (10-8) beat the Lakers 7-4 on Sunday.

Four Monarchs picked up a hit in their 3-2 loss, Jeff Bullock scored a run with his hit as well. Evan Morrison started the game on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. Trevin Ressler pitched the remaining 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.

Kayne Olinski picked up two hits with a RBI and a run scored in the Monarchs’ 12-5 loss against the Lakers on Saturday evening. Cade Harrison was the Medicine Hat starter, working two innings with two strikeouts before Ressler took over and picked up six punch outs in 3.2 innings. Olinski took over and worked the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

Kyle Woolridge led the way offensively in the Monarchs’ 7-4 win Sunday, picking up three RBIs on two hits and a run scored. Bullock picked up the win on the mound with five strikeouts in his four innings of work. Ryler Straarup pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts and Woolridge registered the final out of the game

Knights

The Medicine Hat U18 Knights had a slow weekend after a strong Thursday night.

The Knights (10-14) beat the Tri County Cardinals twice on Thursday, winning 6-4 and coming out on top with a walkoff 7-6 victory before falling in both their games Saturday against the Great Falls Challenge, falling 22-3 and 4-3.

The Knights’ 6-4 win Thursday was led offensively by Cade Moch who had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Pryce Velichko started the game and picked up the win with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. JJ Harnett worked the final two 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

Moch had the RBI single for the Knights’ 7-6 walkoff win to cap off their winning Thursday. Lance Macpherson had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the win as well. Cole Carlson started the game and struck out two batters in his 3.1 innings of work. Harnett recorded an out before Dryden Pidlisny took the ball and recorded the win with five strikeouts in his 3.1 innings pitched.

Talen Crockford led the Knights offensively with a hit and a run scored in Medicine Hat’s 22-3 loss Saturday against Great Falls. Moch pitched the first inning before Carlson recorded an out, Mace Carriere worked the majority of the game striking out two batters in 3.2 innings.

The Knights wrapped up their weekend with a 4-3 loss against Great Falls. Parker Krauss led the way with two hits and an RBI, Wade Davies had two hits with two runs scored. Nixon Kunkel started the game for the Knights, pithing 3.1 innings. Pidlisny took over and struchout two batters in his 3.2 innings of work.
