Two South Alberta Hockey Academy defenders have been recognized as the best in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Wednesday afternoon the CSSHL announced their winners for top defender awards, with SAHA defenders Kendal Davidson winning the U18 female honours and Matthew Paranych taking the men’s award.

Davidson takes the honours in her second full season with SAHA, putting up 13 goals and 21 points in 26 regular season games. She added two goals and three points in four playoff games. The 17-year-old Union college commit was nominated for the award in the 2021-22 season.

In his first U18 season Paranych had seven goals and 32 points in 29 games for SAHA, putting him third in league scoring, trailing the leading point getter by four points in four fewer games played. The Medicine Hat Tigers prospect led the U18 level with power play points and was second in points per game with 1.10.
