The Medicine Hat Knights opened their American League Legion season over the weekend.
The Knights split their weekend at home, winning two of the four contests. They opened the weekend with an 6-3 loss against the Calgary Premier Blue U18. Parker Krauss started the game on the mound picking up two strikeouts in four innings of work. JJ Harnett threw three innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts. Wryder Welte led the way offensively with two hits and a RBI.
The Knights got on their winning ways in the second game, beating the Strathmore Reds 11-4. Pryce Velichko was the leader in that win with four hits, six RBIs and a run scored. Cade Moch got the win on the mound striking out six batters in his 3.2 innings pitched. Nixon Kunkel worked in relief with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
Medicine Hat opened Sunday games with an 8-1 win over the CBA Archers. Parker Krauss led the Knights offence with two hits and two RBIs, Velichko added two RBIs and a hit of his own. On the mound, Cole Carlson pitched a complete seven-inning game with nine strikeouts.
The Knights wrapped up their weekend with a 14-4 loss against the U16 Babe Ruth Premier. Landon Macpherson had a hit and two RBIs in the loss. Mace Carrire started the game with a strikeout in 2.2 innings pitched. Dylan Amundsun, Talen Crockford and Welte worked out of the bullpen for a combined three innings.
