JV Colts continue strong start to baseball season

The McCoy JV Colts continued their strong start to the season Monday night at Jeffries field.

The JV Colts beat the Eagle Butte JV Talons 16-4 in 5 innings. Tyler Werner pitched the first two innings for the JV Colts, picking up four strikeouts. Nixon Kunkel worked the final three innings allowing just one run while striking out four Talons batters.

Offensively the JV Colts were led by Merrick Kurpjuweit who had three hits with a double while Asha Frey also had three hits with a triple, three runs scored and 2 RBIs. Dane Brooks chipped in with two doubles, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored and Ethan Grad had two hits with 2 RBI. Nixon Davis hit an RBI double and scored a run in leading the JV Talons offense.

Next up for the JV Colts (4-0) is the Riley Martin Memorial Tournament in Brooks starting Thursday, wrapping up Saturday.
