sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Medicine Hat’s Twist and Flip Gymnastics put their skills on display at the highest level in Alberta this weekend. The local gymnastics club sent five male athletes to the 2023 Men’s Artistic Gymnastics provincial championships in Calgary on Saturday and Sunday. The competition marked the first time these athletes had competed at provincial championships, with all five showcasing their skills at Level 1 in their respective age categories. The five Twist and Flip athletes combined for seven medals and seven ribbons. Lukas Young (12) finished first on high bar, second on both rings and parallel bars, putting him second all-around. Cade Bonneville (14) took first on parallel bars and second on both pommel horse and high bar. He was unable to compete on floor and vault due to a prior injury. Isaac Mwaura (8) placed 15th, Ian Mwaura (10) placed 25th and Jonathan Cayen (8) placed 21st all-around in their respective age categories. 9
