A Medicine Hat swimmer competed in her first ever Olympic level trial meet this week.
Jaivyn Barabe from the Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club attended the 2023 Bell Canada Swimming Trials starting Monday, marking the 17-year-old’s first ever Olympic level trial meet, hosted by Swim Canada at the Pan Am Sports Centre in Toronto.
Her Thursday swim consisted of a 100m Breast Time trial where she placed fourth in her heat with a time of 1:17.14. On Friday she competed in the 50m Breast time trial swim. Entering the race she ranked 34th and worked her way to 25th place with a time of 33.88.
Next up for AMAC swim club is Chinook Invitational and Dino Cup swim meets April 21.
