Hat High basketball raising money for ALS society, honouring grads

The Hat High Hawks basketball teams have a week of giving back and honouring their own.

Wednesday and last Friday were the Hawks’ senior nights for their boys and girls basketball teams respectively, a night of each athlete sharing how much they will miss their teammates and coaches while receiving recognition for their time as a Hawk.

On Friday, Hat High continues another tradition as teams change the Hawks green for purple in the fight against ALS. The purple shirt night is in support of of “Karen’s Purple Shirt Party” and the ALS Society of Alberta and in memory of Karen Wagenaar who died in 2017 from the disease.

The proceeds from admission, concession and any donations at the game are collected and donated to the ALS Society of Alberta.

The games get underway at 2 p.m. and run through the afternoon into the evening.
