Team Yukon and Gavin McKenna have one more try at the Canada Winter Games to make history.

The Yukon hockey team lost 13-3 Wednesday morning in their qualification match against New Brunswick, eliminating them from medal contention. But McKenna had two goals and an assist in the loss, giving him 13 goals and 26 points in five tournament games, one point shy of the tournament record.

Team Yukon faces off against Newfoundland this morning at 9:30 in the 9th/10th place game, giving the Medicine Hat Tigers’ prospect another chance at leaving his mark at the national games.

Later on Thursday, Team Alberta starts their climb to the medal round as they’ll face Team Quebec in quarter-finals action. That game gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
