Team Yukon and Alberta get set for must wins at Winter Games

Medicine Hat Tigers fans tuning into the Canada Winter Games in P.E.I. will be treated to elimination contests.

Both teams featuring Tigers prospects, Yukon and Alberta, made it past the preliminary round.

Yukon had two games Tuesday, beating the hometown team 5-3 in the morning before falling 8-2 in the afternoon against team Newfoundland.

Gavin McKenna had two goals and two assists against P.E.I., and two helpers in the afternoon, bringing his tournament points total to 23.

Team Yukon will face Nova Scotia today at 4:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

Team Alberta had only one game Tuesday, falling 4-2 to British Columbia.

Tigers prospect Jordan Switzer was between the pipes and Hayden Harsanyi and Matthew Paranych registered assists. Harsanyi has two points in three preliminary games, Paranych has one and Kadon McCann has one goal.

Team Alberta is off until Thursday when they face Manitoba in the quarter-finals at 1 p.m.
