For the first time this season the Medicine Hat Tigers were held off the scoresheet. The Tigers were blanked 3-0 Friday night in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes as goaltender Bryan Thomson turned aside all 29 Medicine Hat shots he faced. The Hurricanes got on the board first with a shorthanded goal 3:28 into the contest. Cole Shepard finished off a cross-crease pass from Jett Jones for his 18th goal of the year. Nolan Bentham had the second assist on the only goal of the first period. Lethbridge continued the offence into the second frame as Trae Wilkie knocked in a loose puck in front of Tigers net minder Evan May for his first goal in the Western Hockey League. Dustin Renas had the original shot that created the rebound and Brayden Edwards had the second assist on the marker coming 9:53 into the period. The Hurricanes rounded out their lead with a power play goal from Tyson Laventure 10:07 into the final period. Shepard and Joe Arntsen had the assists as Lethbridge held on for the 3-0 win. May had 21 saves on the night for Medicine Hat, who had picked up a point in each of their last eight games entering Friday. The Tigers (21-22-7-1) are back in action Saturday at Co-op Place for a rematch with the Hurricanes, their final matchup for the season. 8
