Ringette Roundup:U16 Matrix split weekend games on the road

The U16 Matrix travelled to Calgary for two ringette games Sunday. In their first matchup against the South Calgary Avalanche, the Matrix lost 5-1, with the lone goal coming from Karly Stennick.

In their second game of the day, the Matrixes beat the Bow View Titans 5-0.

Kyree Stern earned her third shutout of the season with the offence coming from Mackenzie Tindall with two goals and Jordy Provost, Ava Allchurch, and Grace Ammann each scoring goal.

The next action for the Matrix is Saturday in Calgary where they face the Northwest Calgary Ambush and the North West Calgary Exile.

U14

The Medicine Hat U14 Mud Dawgs hosted two ringette games at the Moose Recreation Center on Saturday against the Indus Lightning.

The Mud Dawgs came away with a win in their first game, winning 6-2. Leighton Wright led the way with three goals as Reese Tabor, Jayna Allchurch, and Madison Helgeson each added a goal. Kensie Provost and Margot Kerr had two helpers.

In their second game, the Indus Lightning and Mud Dawgs tied 3-3. Medicine Hat’s offence came from Provost, Kerr and Eden Schmunk. Sophia Stock had two assists.

U10

The U10 Step 1 Gators had tournament games in Strathmore this weekend. Against Strathmore in their first game, Charlie Lowe and Sloan Loehndorf tallied three goals each with Aphten Myram scoring two of her own. Everley Cross and Kimber Moch rounded the scoring out with single markers.

They faced Edmonton in their second game of the tournament. Addy McKinley stood tall in net and Sadie Sackman was able to shut down some Edmonton shots late in the game. Gators goals were by Myram and Loehndorf.

The Gators took on Rockyford in their last game. Cross was in net for the Gators, allowing only two goals. Blaire Dirk turned down Rockyford shots in the second half. Myram, Lowe and Loehndorf all had hat tricks in the contest and McKinley, Sackman and Kylee Drever each scored as well. The Gators are back in league action Feb 5th at home.

The U10 Step 3 Gators travelled to Strathmore this weekend to play in the Laurie Morton Ruppe Memorial Tournament.

The Gators played faced South Calgary in Rockyford on Friday morning with Brylee Dirk in net and goals scored by Annabelle O’ Reilly, Brinley Cross and Annalise Robins.

Friday afternoon they played in Strathmore against Cochrane with Danna Sawchuk in net. O’Reilly had two goals while Grace Stirling, Robins and Cross each had a goal.

Heading into Saturday the Gators were sitting in third place but ultimately lost to the home team Strathmore Ice. Stirling was in net and goals were scored by Cross and Robins with two each and Jorja Sadler.
