Ringette Roundup: U19 Chicken Hawks sweep weekend slate of ringette action

The U19 Medicine Hat Chicken Hawks ringette team won both of their games on Sunday.

The first game of the day, they beat the NW1 Sirens 10-5. Abby Guest was in goal.

The Chicken Hawks second game was against NW3 Aces, a 7-1 Chicken Hawks win with Rheagyn Heinrichs in net.

The Chicken Hawks are at 12-0-1 currently on league play and have a three-game set this weekend on the road.

U14

The U14 Mud Dawgs travelled to Calgary on Sunday and faced the South Calgary Blackout and the South Calgary Ambush, coming away with a win and a tie.

In the first game, the Muddawgs beat the Blackout 6-4. Leighton Wright led the way with three goals, Jayna Allchurch had two markers of her own and Kensie Provost added a goal Emma Pinnell picked up the win in net.

In the second game against the Ambush, the final was a 9-9 tie.

Wright carried the offensive torch with seven goals with Provost and Allchurch adding a goal each. Pinnell was again in net.

U12

The U12 Phoenix played a double header against the Bowview Renegades on Sunday at the Moose, falling in both games.

In their first matchup, the Phoenix lost 8-5. Sophia Smith was in net for the Phoenix. Kassidy Etienne had two goals and Breanna Lanuk, Ally Martin and Lacey Gibney each added a goal.

In the second game, the Phoenix led early before falling 9-3. Jacqueline LeBlanc was between the pipes in the loss. Leading the way offensively was Lanuk with two goals and Gibney adding a goal herself.

The U12 Phoenix are back in action Saturday when they head to Lethbridge to take on the Lethbridge Rattlers.

U10

The U10 Step 1 Gators were back at league action Sunday with a double header in High River. Playing Foothills first, Aphten Myram led the team with three goals. Lexxon Martinez and Kylee Drever both stopped some Foothills shots between the pipes and each scored a goal. Charlie Lowe and Dylin Kerluke rounded out the scoring with one each.

The Gators took on Indus in their second game of the day Myram was between the pipes while also putting three goals in the net. Lowe and Kerluke also each chalked up three goals. Martinez and Addy McKinley scored a goal each in the match. The Gators’ next action is Jan. 27 in Strathmore’s tournament.

The U10 Step 3 Gators had their first games of 2023 on Saturday, playing a double header against the Cochrane Sour Lemons. Brinley Cross was in goal for the first game and while the Gators led for most of the first half they ultimately lost to the Sour Lemons. Annalise Robins had her second hat trick of the season and other goals were scored by Evangeline Robins, Grace Stirling and Annabelle O’Reilly.

In the second game, Arika McDowell was busy in net and the Gators received their offence from Robins with two and Jorja Sadler with a goal but they could not close the gap in a loss.
