The Medicine Hat Tigers started their weekend on a high note. The Tigers were in Edmonton on Friday and scored two unanswered goals to beat the Oil Kings 3-2. Evan May turned aside 29 shots for the victory, his first win between the pipes in the Western Hockey League. Edmonton got on the board first with two early goals in the second period from Nathan Pilling and Rilen Kovacevic. The Tigers split the order with a goal in-between, Dru Krebs scored his fourth of the season. Brayden Boehm and Pasha Bocharov had the assists. The Tigers picked up steam in the third period with a power play goal from Brayden Boehm for the 2-2 tie. Shane Smith and Brendan Lee had the helpers on Boehm’s 15th. With 2:52 left in the third Pasha Bocharov tipped in a shot from Krebs for the eventual game winner. Oasiz Wiesblatt had the second assist on Bocharov’s seventh of the year. The Tigers outshot Edmonton 36-31, Kolby Hay made 33 saves in net for the Oil Kings. Medicine Hat (14-18-5-1) is back in action Saturday when they host the Swift Current Broncos at Co-op Place. 8
